Anekdoten's third album.

The line-up has not changed, and the group continues advancing in their own style. Anekdoten ia, undoubtedly, a band with an up-to-date sound, a group of the 90's, that has few relation with the 70's. Creativity, evolution and innovation inside the progressive rock, so original as could be Radiohead, are a trademark of the band. Those looking for creativity have very much where to choose in these 90's. To mention also the collaboration of Landberk's Simon Nordberg, who contributes with keyboards.

In this third album comes the calm. Undoubtedly it is Anekdoten's least hard, and most relaxed, melancholic, melodic, and symphonic album. Surely the most suitable in order that classic prog-rock fans enter the sound of this band.

All the tracks are very prominent without exception. From the rhythmic one "From Within", to the most powerful "Kiss of Life". Besides the most melodic "Groundbound", among the best of the album. "Slow Fire" with powerful mellotrones. The dark "Firefly". Great instrumental "The Sun Absolute", with a repetitive and addictive bass rhythm, and cello and mellotron melodies. Ultra-soft and melancholy that closes the work, "For Someone". And especially the incredible "Hole", where probably parallel project Morte Macabre leaves its fingerprint.

Anekdoten continues in this essential "From Within", to an enviable level. I am sure that with the fourth album, they can continue surprising us and evolving in their style.

Rating: 9/10
